Explore the north with gear from Minnesota makers- perfect for your next adventure.

Summer goes by too quickly. We need to soak in the light and warmth as much as we can while it’s here! School is out, as is the sun, so we head north, if we aren’t there already. We are more than ready to dip our toes in the lake and explore the woods. This summer, I’m making a pact with myself to just get out there! To unplug and to go on more adventures. Here’s the gear that will help you on your journey.

The Reversible Transfer Top ($69) from Anywhere Apparel can take you from a hike to dinner in no time. Reversible for two completely different looks, it can be dressed up or dressed down and is made of a bamboo blend that’s odor-resistant, breathable, and holds its shape.

The Original OneLogFire ($18.95) is one of the most unique things I’ve come across lately. The kiln dried logs burn from the inside and have their own handle and a non-toxic fire starter, so you can take it anywhere and enjoy the heat and light of a bonfire without the mess. It’s perfect for s’mores, too.K’ul Chocolate bars are my new go-to snack if I need a pick-me-up at the Lake + Co. office. And this summer I’ll be packing their Electrobar ($3.50) in my bag for my next hike. This yummy treat is vegan, gluten free, soy free, dairy free, non-gmo, and is packed with electrolytes. 70% Dark Chocolate with bananas, evaporated coconut water, toasted coconut, and Cyprus sea salt. And no, I’m not sharing it with the kids.

Stand up paddle boarding is one of my favorite ways to enjoy lake time in the summer. I can’t wait to try out a custom board from Shore Boards (check them out in the Summer 2017 issue of Lake Time Magazine). And if you choose a boat over a board you will love the Artisan Painted Paddles ($190) from Sanborn Canoe Company - they can go from the wall to the water, serving as both cabin décor and functional gear.

Sometimes your next adventure is right in your backyard. I’m looking forward to summer afternoons playing games with my kids and our Snake Eyes Yard Dice™ ($50) are made right here in Minnesota and come in a great all-natural jute drawstring bag. The bag is great for storage and also makes the yard dice an easy gift.

Whether it’s a hike, day on the lake, or backyard bbq, I hope you enjoy every sun-filled minute. Adventure awaits… get out there!
